How do I get to Amaca Beach Retreat?
You arrive by sea. From Puerto Vallarta airport it is about 25 to 35 minutes by car or taxi to Boca de Tomatlan, where the road ends. From there you cross Banderas Bay by boat for about 15 minutes to Quimixto beach, where we welcome you. We coordinate your transfer for whenever you arrive.
Is there a charge for the boat transfer?
No. The panga boat transfer between Boca de Tomatlan and Quimixto, round trip, is included in all reservations.
I have never arrived at a hotel by sea. Is it complicated?
Not at all. We send you the exact meeting point, schedule and everything you need in advance. When you arrive we store your luggage and bring it up for you. The sailing is the first moment of disconnection.
Can I arrive at night?
Our included boat transfer operates from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. If you arrive later, we can arrange a panga for a later time with an additional charge; contact us in advance to coordinate it.
How much is a taxi from the airport to Boca de Tomatlan?
An official taxi from Puerto Vallarta airport (PVR) to Boca de Tomatlan costs approximately $776 MXN for a standard sedan (1 to 3 passengers) and between $1,430 and $1,716 MXN for a van (up to 5 or more passengers). The trip takes 25 to 35 minutes depending on traffic.
Where do I leave my car?
In Boca de Tomatlan, down toward the river and beach area, there are small lots set up as parking that operate by the day, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. The cost ranges from $200 to $500 MXN. If you are arriving or leaving outside those hours, you will need to coordinate directly with the parking lot.
The destination and what to expect
What if it rains?
It rarely rains all day unless a hurricane is approaching, in which case we ask guests to take shelter. Otherwise, you can spend time at the beach club, enjoy a spa treatment, meditate or practice yoga at La Xala palapa, watch the rain from your room or read a good book.
Is there cell signal and internet?
We are on a semi-virgin beach in a village of about 500 people, so cell signal is limited. We do have satellite Wi-Fi at the hotel. But remember: the real connection here is with nature.
Is there an ATM? Do you take card?
There is no ATM in Quimixto, so we recommend bringing cash, especially for tips and purchases in the village. At the hotel we accept card for your purchases.
Is it safe?
Yes. Quimixto is a quiet village with a close-knit local community and a safe environment. As anywhere, we recommend using common sense and not wandering alone late at night, just as you would not do at home.
What should I pack?
Light clothing, swimsuit, comfortable walking and water shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen and cash. You arrive by sea and are surrounded by nature, so pack light and practical.
Rooms and stay
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out is at 12:00 noon.
Do the rooms have air conditioning?
All rooms have air conditioning and mosquito nets, except the villas. Each room has its own private bathroom.
Can I choose my exact room?
Yes, when booking directly with us you choose the exact room (Mar, Luna, Nube, Alegría...) and not only the category. Subject to availability.
Is it suitable for families?
Yes. We have family rooms with two Queen beds and private two-bedroom villas for up to 6 guests, with space and garden a few steps from the sea.
Food
Is there a restaurant? Do I need to go out to eat?
We have a beach club facing the sea with seasonal fresh produce, seafood, local protein and light options. You do not need to leave; you can eat with your feet in the sand, no dress code required.
Can I stay at the hotel all day without leaving?
Of course. There is no set itinerary here. You can choose not to leave except for meals, or make the most of every hour. Both ways are right.
Pets
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, dogs and cats are welcome. The cost is $350 MXN per night per pet (restrictions apply). There is beach, river and trails to enjoy together.
